FAQs

Prior to Sugaring

Please shower and wash prior to your session. If you are receiving a Brazilian/Bikini wax, this includes your pubic area. This will allow you to be more comfortable during the Brazilian wax session. Cleanliness is both helpful to you and your Sugarista as she will become very intimate with your pubic area.

Your hair should be between 1/4 inch to 1/2 inch. 1/4 inch is equivalent to a grain of rice. Typically, about three weeks of hair growth is best for your first waxing session. If your hair is too short, the wax will not adhere to it. If your hair is too long we will be happy to trim it for you.

Please refrain from using your facial moisturizer or body lotions at least 24 hours prior to your service.

It is best to wax 4 days to a week AFTER your menstrual cycle as doing so right before will cause you to have much more sensitivity as your pain tolerance is higher during this time.

We recommend exfoliating with spa gloves and/or a salt or sugar scrub up to 48 hours before your session but no sooner.

Should you have a low pain tolerance, feel free to take some pain reliever 2 hours prior to your appointment. Avoiding caffeine the day of your appointment will also help

After Care

Avoid chlorinated swimming pools, tanning booths, strenuous exercise, saunas, steam rooms for 24 hours. Try to avoid hot baths and sexual activity for 12 hours and anything with fragrance for 8 hours. While your pores are open, they are vulnerable to irritation by the extreme temperatures and infection by bacteria.

Avoid the sun immediately after waxing and please wear sun screen; recently waxed areas are prone to hyperpigmentation (permanent darkening of the skin) if exposed to the sun.

Avoid tight clothing after waxing, especially in the waxed areas. Tight clothing may result in irritation and ingrown hairs. Wear loose comfortable clothes to your appointment.

We highly recommend exfoliating your skin with the use of spa gloves and a salt/sugar scrub every 3 to 4 days (no sooner than 48 hours after the wax as this would irritate your skin). Exfoliation and hydration will help prevent ingrown hairs. If you are prone to ingrown hairs, you may wish to invest in topical cream designed to target and treat them. Please be careful as some products have quite a bit of alcohol which can be overly drying. Body sugaring is highly recommended for those with sensitive skin and prone to ingrown hairs.
